St. Andrew's and St. Cyprian's
The was begun at St. Andrew’s and St. Cyprian’s in 2006. In 2007 we made and placed approximately 275 mantles. Most of the time they are given to provide comfort and love but they are also given in celebration of a special birthday, birth of a child or numerous other mile-stones of life. The shawls have been either knitted or crocheted but could be of other mediums. They are from a variety of fibers in a rainbow of colors. The shawls are blessed during a service and a tag is attached with the blessing and the date of the blessing. There is a gathering on the second and fourth Wednesdays in the Parish Hall of anyone interested in participating. We share yarn, new patterns, help with trouble spots and a wide array of additional information. This ministry is one that you can take with you wherever you might be going and is always a conversation opener. It is rare to be sitting in a Dr.’s waiting room, knitting and no one asks what you are making. By using happy colors and soft inviting yarn, everyone wants to touch what you are working on. In 1998, Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo started this ministry which was inspired by their participation is the 1997 Women’s Leadership Institute at the Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Connecticut.. Additional information can be found at their website www.shawlministry.com. Five Loaves and Two Fishes is a ministry of the ECW. Our shelves are stocked by the generous gifts of our members and by additional donations from a local sister church. We use this ministry to provide help to anyone who has fallen on hard times. In addition, this ministry provides food baskets for local families at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Non- perishable food items are always welcome and needed.

is a program to promote reading among students in elementary and middle school in McIntosh County. On twelve evenings a year, students and their parents are invited to their school lunch rooms to play bingo for the chance to win books to read outside of school. The games are set up so that all students who participate win books. St. Cyprian’s and St. Andrew’s purchase the books for four of the twelve nights and provide volunteers to staff the games. This ministry is a fun way to interact with the children of our county and to promote the essential skill of reading.
